Celebrity Bar Tender from KipCo TV and now bringing you the blog of fav Houston crawfish (BTW, and our favorite RAS). Meghan Simecek is owner of Texas Accessibility Group and self-proclaimed crawfish aficionado. One of her most vivid early memories is learning to peel crawfish at a Broussard family reunion right around her 4th birthday. This year, her hubby and Meghan will host our 15th annual backyard boil (are we all invited?). She has indoctrinated their daughter and nieces early, so much so that their favorite food is their grandpa’s crawfish etouffee. We hope Meghan shares that recipe soon.
#1 - The absolute best crawfish in Houston is no longer available. Magnolia Bar and Grill (formerly at 6000 Richmond Ave) was the absolute best crawfish that ever. Drop a comment below if you were lucky enough to enjoy it “back in the day”.
#2 - Pook's Crawfish Hole in Santa Fe is worth the drive. Discovered this gem when conducting their accessibility inspection. When you can still smell the spices when the restaurant has been closed for the season, you know it’s going to be good. Also, it’s BYOB (beer and alcohol) which is always a plus. This crawfish is the closest to what Meghan was raised on. Honore's Cajun Cafe in Manvel is a close second and worth the drive.

#3 - Crawfish Pot and Oyster Bar is the best spot for “fun” crawfish. If you’re a control freak, this is the spot for you. They offer four “sauces” and four heat levels, to satisfy every taste. This is the closest I’ve tried to Vietnamese style crawfish, and loved it.
#4 - Ragin' Cajun is my go-to for “safe” crawfish- you know what you’re going to get, and if you don’t like crawfish they have an extensive menu and bar. This is usually where I take people who are not from the Gulf Coast, and people who are new to crawfish. BB Tex Orleans is another safe bet.
